Job Overview:
Kamps is seeking a Safety Coordinator. This person ensures employee safety through job competence and implements programs for continuous improvement. In addition, this person will ensure regulatory and environmental compliance at Kamps’ plants. The safety coordinator will manage injury prevention programs and workers’ compensation follow-up. This position reports directly to the Regional Safety Manager and will work closely with plant management, Human Resources, and our workers’ compensation case management partner.
Essential Functions:
- Promote the most efficient and safe ways to perform various duties required as part of Kamps Pallets
- Ensure that all plants meet Kamps and OSHA safety requirements
- Make regular visits to all plants to conduct behavioral and compliance audits, review safety meetings, answer questions, and conduct job safety training
- Ensure that plant safety administration duties are completed
- File and follow up with Worker’s Compensation claims and ensure injured employees adhere to any work restrictions they may have
- Work with Plant Manager to investigate any Worker’s compensation injuries and near misses to assist in future prevention efforts
- Assist Plant Manager in finding light duty positions, or in changing a position to accommodate a light duty restriction
- Take corrective action on Risk Control Assessments
- Assist plant managers with employee safety concerns
- Assist Plant Managers with regulatory and environmental compliance
- Coordinate group training as needed, and conduct safety meetings within plants as well as with Management
- Conduct follow-ups for all OSHA-related inspections
- Assist Human Resources with issues as needed
- Perform any other duties as assigned by management
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Two to four years of related experience and/or training
- Must be able to meet deadlines and work well with various personalities and ability levels
- Must be able to travel overnight regularly
- Must be organized, have good communication and computer skills, and be very good at follow up
- Proficient with Word, Excel, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Bi-lingual ability is highly valuable for this position
